Who's Mart?
After more than three decades in corporate management, I can say with conviction that it’s never too late to consider a new path! In December 2022, I graduated from Lipscomb University with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, completing a significant chapter in my “second half” pursuit
of new, meaningful work. Soon thereafter, I joined Melton Counseling Group where I am accepting new adult clients for individual, premarital and couple counseling.
Deep within each of us is the innate desire to tell our story, to have it heard by another. It is in this being known that we find acceptance, connection, and belonging. But when our stories hold narratives of abuse and low self-worth, our
longing for this deep connection may be thwarted by paralyzing fear that tells us “If you truly knew me...”. This leaves us feeling stuck, hopeless and unwilling to risk inviting others into our lives. Instead, our energy is channeled towards perfectionism and hiding or denying our true, authentic selves. As a result, we live small, constricted lives that do not support what we value most.
I integrate humanistic, relational approaches alongside cognitive and solutions-focused interventions to meet my clients where they are and where they are struggling. My goal is to create an inviting, safe, non-judgmental space where you’ll have the opportunity - in your own time, and possibly for the first time - to
feel fully seen, heard and known. If you want more in your relationships, your work, your sense of inner peace, reach out and join me in this sacred, healing work!
On a personal note... I grew up in a rural Middle Tennessee town, but I consider myself a “city boy” at heart. I’ve lived in midtown Nashville since the mid-90s, where my wife and I enjoy frequenting good restaurants, traveling, watching home improvement shows, and hosting friends and family in our home. We
have two adult children and, in 2021, welcomed our first granddaughter (with whom we’re more than a little obsessed).
